According to the latest VFACTS report from October, Tesla is atop the leaderboard for luxury car brands in Australia, followed by Mercedes-Benz and BMW on the podium, with Audi and Lexus nabbing closely at their heels.

In terms of the large, luxury car segment priced above $70,000, the Porsche Taycan remains Australia’s best selling vehicle in the segment for YTD sales, followed closely by the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz EQE and the E-Class.

Top Selling Luxury Upper Large Cars Priced Above $100,000

For the flagship upper-large segment priced above $100,000, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class remains the best seller in terms of YTD sales, followed by the BMW 7 Series, Porsche Panamera and the battery-electric BMW i7.

Top Selling Sports Cars Priced Below $80,000

Moving over to the most affordable part of the sports car segment, the Ford Mustang remains firmly atop the leaderboard, followed closely behind by the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GR86, BMW 2 Series and the Mazda MX-5.

Top Selling Sports Cars Priced Above $80,000

Stepping up to the sports car segment priced above $80,000, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are dead even in YTD sales to October, 2023, selling the exact same amount of vehicles to share first place, followed by Chevrolet and Porsche.

Top Selling Luxury Sports Cars Priced Above $200,000

When it comes to flagship sports cars priced above $200,000, Porsche has a commanding lead over its nearest competitors thanks to healthy sales of the iconic Porsche 911, which accounts for nearly half of total sales in the segment.

Best Selling Small/Compact SUVs Priced Above $60,000

Moving onto the best-selling small SUVs priced above $60,000 here in Australia shows that the Volvo XC40 is the best-selling vehicle in its segment, followed closely behind by the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1.

Best-Selling Luxury Midsize SUVs Priced Above $60,000

Tesla once again takes the top spot for the midsize SUV segment priced above $60,000 here in Australia, out-selling its nearest competitors like the Lexus NX, Audi Q5 and the BMW X3 by a super wide margin.

In terms of the large SUVs priced above $70,000 here in Australia, Land Rover tops the list with the Defender, followed by BMW with the X5, Lexus with the RX and Mercedes-Benz with the GLE.

Moving to the largest, most luxurious portion of the upper large SUV segment, Lexus stands in the top spot thanks to the RX, followed closely by the BW X7, Land Rover Range Rover and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
