It’s difficult to say definitively whether or not GWM cars are reliable, because many of its vehicle’s haven’t been on sale for a long enough the time-frame. Vehicle mechanicals, the quality of raw materials and paint finishes, for example, can take many years to truly judge. 

Some automotive journalists remain skeptical of the materials and build quality of GWM cars, however, it stands to reason that the company has modernised its production facilities to improve overall quality and reliability. 

These issues will become evident as GWM’s fleet of vehicles here in Australia gets older, but for now, there is nothing to suggest that GWM vehicles are particularly unreliable.

The Great Wall Motor, or GWM Ute is branded here under the GWM umbrella, although it is produced by subsidiary POER. For the sake of simplicity, it is imported and sold here in Australia as the GWM Ute Cannon, which is a dual-cab ute platform.

All variants of the GWM Ute have a sat-nav feature within their infotainment system, wiht the entry-level Cannon receiving a 9.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support.

The GWM Ute is an impressive entrant to the ute, otherwise known as the bakkie market. Keep in mind that the platform is available in Australia solely in a dual-cab platform, which reduces the size and volume of the rear tray.

Yes, the GWM Cannon is able to tow a caravan, boat or large load of cargo, so long as it weighs less than the GWM ute’s maximum braked towing capacity of 3,000kg. Unbraked towing capacity is capped at 750kg.
