Mahindra was founded back in 1945 and has risen to prominence as India’s largest manufacturer of tractors, and actually the world’s largest tractor manufacturer. In modern times, the company has shifted its attention to the passenger car market, offering a wide product range in its home market of India that includes midsize and large SUVs and 4x4 pick-ups.

The company looks set to capitalise on the growing popularity of the compact, medium and large SUV segment with a range of SUVs hitting global markets as Mahindra attempts to fast-track its international expansion, as well as a range of affordable battery-electric vehicles.

Mahindra FAQs

The majority of Mahindra’s passenger cars are made in its home market of India. Mahindra’s engine production lines are based in Igatpuri, while its assembly lines are based in Chakan, Mumbai, Haridwar, Nasik and Zaheerabad, India. Mahindra also opened a manufacturing facility in Detroit, Michigan, in 2017, which creates a small number of vehicles like the Mahindra Roxor, while operating distributor plants in Tunisia, Kenya, Sri Lanka and the USA.

The Mahindra lineup consists primarily of the PIK-UP range, which is priced from $26,990 for the entry-level S6+ manual 4x2, with prices rising to $30,990 for the PIK-UP S6+ manual 4x4 and up to $34,500 for the PIK-UP manual 4x4 dual-cab. The Mahindra PIK-UP S11 4x4 dual cab automatic is priced at $37,990, while the range-topping PIK-UP S11 4x4 automatic dual cab is priced at $38,500. Prices listed here are drive-away and include on-road costs.

As it stands, Mahindra’s PIK-UP range is the most popular car in the company’s ranks, though this is more due to the fact it has no competition at the moment. This is set to change, though, with the company introducing its Scorpio-N midsize SUV and the large XUV700 in the very near future, which are positioned in one of the most lucrative segments of the market that may make them a higher-volume sellers than the PIK-UP.

In the Australian market, there is one type of Mahindra currently on sale, with two more models planned for a 2023 release, bringing the total to three Mahindra vehicles, one of which is a cab or dual-cab ute with both 4x2 and 4x4 platforms on offer, with the other two coming in the form of a mid-sized and large SUV.

Currently, the most expensive truck in the Mahindra range is the flagship PIK-UP variant, the S11 4x4 automatic dual cab which is priced at $38,500. Prices listed here are drive-away and include on-road costs.

In Australia, the cheapest Mahindra vehicle is entry-level S6+ manual 4x2, which is priced from $26,990 drive-away. In overseas markets, Mahindra has a range of more affordable hatchbacks, though the company does not export these to overseas markets like Australia.
