Review - Hyundai Santa Fe
April 01, 2021
The new generation Hyundai Santa Fe received a dramatic upgrade inside and out, showcasing attractive European styling, luxury and quality materials, and a solid powertrain.
The large SUV offers space, power and value for money, making it a true contender in its category.
The complete package
The new slim headlights and taillights, combined with crisp lines on the side, makes the new Santa Fe looks sharp and bold. It’s the same story inside the car, full of revolutionary positive changes.
The interior feels premium and elegant with well-designed dash and controls. Overall space is abundant in all three rows which is what you should look for in a 7-seater. There is also plenty of interior storage for water bottles and family necessities, alongside an anti-slide shelf above the glovebox which shows how Hyundai have really thought it through. Boot space is reasonable as well, comparable to most competitors in the segment.
Smart here and there
The new Santa Fe comes with plenty of infotainment and safety features as standard alongside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The touch-screen and media system is clear and easy to control thanks to the physical buttons around it for quick access to different menus.
For safety and convenience, all variants include a rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking, auto headlights, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go capability, rear cross-traffic alert. The middle range also comes with power-adjustable front seats, power tailgate for more convenience. If you opt for the Highlander variant, you’ll also get heated front and rear seats, automatic parking functionality and a heads up display that maximises safety and practicality.
Driving the family cruiser
The new 8-speed auto transmission changes gear superbly and seems to intuitively know which gear to be in all the time. For engine choices, you can’t go wrong with either one, but it is important to note that the diesel is amazingly quiet and very fuel efficient averaging around 7.5L/100KM. Suspension has also been improved since the last generation, it is noticeably more relaxing, great at absorbing bumps and ideal for family trips.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe is a true challenger in the SUV market. It provides loads of value for its price point, coming very well equip with standard tech and safety features that most families would find useful. The upgraded exterior and interior makes it even harder to resist. If you’re looking for a new SUV for the family or weekend adventure, you should consider the Santa Fe, you won’t be disappointed.
